Lourdes Health Network – Treating People, not Patients
For nearly 100 years Lourdes Health Network has been focused on providing an unparalleled patient experience and quality health care to all who enter their doors. Lourdes considers it their duty and more importantly, their privilege, to carry on the healing ministry of Jesus within the community. And, they’ve been doing just that…for a very long time.
Still Making History
Lourdes Counseling Center offers the only hospital-based, psychiatric services in the area. Their 20-bed inpatient hospital serves adults offering a full continuum of mental health services. The Counseling Center also offers outpatient and community-based services; including a children’s day program.
Locally, we’ve felt an urgent need for crisis triage programs that assist those in behavioral health crisis. Lourdes Counseling Center’s Transitions Program utilizes a newly constructed clinic with 16 additional beds that can accommodate individuals in crisis for anywhere from a few hours to several days depending on the need. Their skilled, multi-disciplinary team includes peer counselors, mental health technicians, clinicians, and nursing staff. Transitions allows referrals directly from law enforcement helping to divert those in behavioral crisis from area emergency departments and jails to a more appropriate venue to care for their health and safety.
Another of their most recent endeavors has proved elemental in advancing cancer care and women’s health in the Mid-Columbia. In partnership with the Tri-Cities Cancer Center, Dr. Laurie Evans, specializing in breast surgery, Dr. Karen Vaniver, board certified Plastic Surgeon and Dr. Patricia Deisler, Oncologist, Lourdes has established what they consider to be a local all-star lineup of services and specialists to help patients navigate the journey back to optimum health.
Lourdes Hematology | Oncology is staffed with Dr. Patricia Deisler; board certified in Oncology and Internal Medicine. Dr. Deisler and her talented, compassionate staff offer support each step of the way, providing answers, compassion, and respect. Whatever is needed, from the initial consultation to post-treatment lifestyle changes, Dr. Deisler and her team will be there to help them through your cancer diagnosis.
Lourdes Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, led by Dr. Karen Vaniver, board certified Plastic Surgeon and Lourdes Chief of Plastic Surgery, understands that the healing journey doesn’t always end once the cancer is eradicated. Dr. Vaniver provides comprehensive cosmetic and reconstructive services to her patients while enabling them to stay in the Tri-Cities for the initial consultation, the procedure itself and the post-operative follow up.
This year Lourdes Joint & Spine Center secured its spot as the region’s highest volume orthopedic center, performing more annual joint replacement surgeries than the other two area hospitals combined. And, they’ve have been recognized for their performance in Knee Replacement outcomes by Healthgrades – a US company that reports performance information about hospitals nationwide (www.healthgrades.com).
Lourdes Joint & Spine Center offers a more comprehensive approach to orthopedic patient care, including an Orthopedic Academy for our surgical patients. This free class is designed to provide patients information about their surgery and expectations during recovery. Patients can tour the facility, meet the staff and learn about every step of the process from pre-surgery to recovery and physical therapy. Lourdes Joint and Spine Center offers an entire, dedicated wing with private suites and access to two well-equipped gyms to meet patients’ physical therapy needs.
Responding to Our Community’s Needs
Lourdes Health Network is continuously responding to the community’s call for additional specialty care and services. To that end, they’ve added a retail pharmacy and an Anticoagulation Clinic in their West Pasco location along with their Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery clinic.
Lourdes Urology Services continues to expand and provide specialty care to patients from across the region. The clinic itself is currently undergoing an expansion and renovation. Likewise, Dr. Vance and his team have recently welcomed three new board certified Urologists; Chad Chesley MD, Patrick Lassen MD and John Mansfield MD.
Lourdes Health Network has long earned a standing within the Tri-Cities community and outlying area for being a compassionate, innovative health care leader. They reserve the same compassion and reverence for their associates – and it’s that philosophy that earned Lourdes the rank of one of the “150 Great Places to Work in Healthcare” by Becker’s Hospital Review. (www.beckershospitalreview.com).
