31 Aug Battelle donates $35,000 to help WSU students during COVID pandemic

Battelle has donated $35,000 to Washington State University Tri-Cities to help with needs during the coronavirus pandemic.
Some of the money will help individual students who are struggling financially during the pandemic, allowing them to continue their education as they or their families have lost jobs.

Other students will be provided equipment, ranging from laptop computers to Wi-Fi hot spots, that will allow them to continue classes at home.
Faculty also will be supplied with equipment to lead classes over the internet.
“This is one small thing we can do to provide relief to so many students on their road to educational and professional success,” said Steven Ashby, director of Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. “Earning a college degree is an important achievement and sets students up for success for generations to come.”
Battelle has operated Pacific Northwest National Laboratory in Richland for the Department of Energy and its predecessor for 55 years.
Last week Battelle donated $80,000 to nonprofits providing support for those who are hungry or need help with mental health in the Tri-Cities area because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
